Sheltered Sea Kayaking, 24th June

What to expect

Join us for a day of paddling and wildlife experiences in sheltered conditions along the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline! This trip is all about exploring caves, rock formations and secluded beaches; and encountering wildlife such as razorbills, cormorants, oyster catchers, and barrel jellyfish. We might even see seals, and the occasional porpoise! We will choose a location and route sheltered from strong wind or swell, typically on the west or south coast of Pembrokeshire (between Broad Haven North and Tenby South Beach). We will aim to paddle in 'sheltered' conditions for most of the trip, which means staying within 200m of the shoreline, wind strength below 13mph, with easy places to launch and land. This will not be a technically demanding trip, but you will need a reasonable level of fitness. This trip is ideal for paddlers with some kayaking experience, but complete beginners are also welcome, it is suitable for age 12 and above. We will provide coaching at the start of the day, and tips along the way, to help you make the most of the conditions and features we encounter. Kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid, helmet, and a drybag are included. You may use your own equipment, for a reduced fee, provided it is seaworthy. You must provide your own clothing, footwear, snacks, packed lunch and drinks. We will meet at 10am and aim to be back off the water around 4pm, we will stop for breaks and lunch along the way. We will let you know the meeting location at least 24 hours before hand, and there will be a WhatsApp group for communication and sharing photos. We also run Introduction to Sea Kayaking courses, where you can spend the day learning and developing skills, the closest date to this trip will be 23rd June.
