Caldey Island Kayak Seal Safari 🦭

3 hour guided wildlife tour, May-November, ages 14+

From 59 British pounds

What to expect

Join us for an unforgettable guided wildlife adventure to the seal colony at Caldey Island, just off the coast of Tenby. Launching from Tenby South Beach, we paddle across the bay and along the beautiful coastline of Caldey Island, home to around 100 Atlantic Grey seals. Between May and late July, thousands of seabirds nest on the island. We are likely to spot cormorants, shags, oystercatchers, guillemots, razorbills, and possibly even puffins. From August to November the seals are at their most visible, and Caldey’s beaches become home to fluffy seal pups. We observe them from a respectful distance, always following the Pembrokeshire Marine Code to protect wildlife. We do not land on the island. Outside August to November, we often see seals resting on the rocks or swimming alongside our kayaks, but we can’t guarantee sightings, or how many we will see. Who is this tour for? This tour is not suitable for complete beginners. You must have a good level of fitness, and be able to paddle for up to an hour without stopping, you will be on the water for around 3 hours in total. If you hold any Paddle UK/BCAB kayak award or qualification then you automatically qualify to join the trip. Minimum age 14. Under 16s must paddle a double kayak with an accompanying adult. We do not land on the Island. What’s included - Kayak and paddle (sit-on-top kayaks and sea kayaks are available) - Spraydecks (sea kayaks only) - Buoyancy aid and helmet - Waterproof cag - Drybag for snacks and essentials Wetsuits are available to hire if required.
