What to expect

Are you looking to keep up your paddle fitness over the colder months, socialise with other SUP enthusiasts, or explore the coastline around Tenby with a qualified leader? If so, our Winter ‘SUP Club’ is the perfect opportunity for you! We aim to meet once a week to paddle a short journey starting from Tenby South Beach or the surrounding area, playing in features, picking up skills, and learning about the weather and tides, in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. Each session is led by a Paddle UK-qualified SUP Coastal Leader, ensuring you’re in safe hands as you have fun on the water. Date, time and location We meet on Saturday afternoons at Tenby South Beach, to be on the water 14.00-15.30. Sometimes the weather may mean paddling on a different day or from an alternative location (e.g. Freshwater East or Stackpole Quay), or not at all! We post weekly updates on our private Facebook Group, and you must book in advance (by 11.00 on the day of each session). There is no joining fee or ongoing commitment, just pay each time you want to attend. Search 'Tenby SUP Club' in facebook groups. Group size and age Currently there are a maximum of 6 places per session, you must be aged 16 or over to attend. What You Need to Know: Whilst these sessions are informal, they are not suitable for complete beginners, or those who haven't paddled on the sea - winter paddling can be challenging, and the sea temperature can be very cold. To join, you should: - Have basic paddling skills. - Be able to paddle while standing. - Confidently get back on your board after falling off. Feeling unsure? Start with a private lesson to build your confidence, or join one of our taster sessions. What’s Included: - Paddleboard, paddle, leash, buoyancy aid, and helmet are all provided, or you may bring your own equipment provided it is seaworthy. What You’ll Need to Bring: - Clothing appropriate for the season: From November to March a winter wetsuit (minimum 4mm) or a drysuit with thermal layers, plus warm footwear and gloves. Anyone without proper attire will not be permitted to paddle for safety reasons. - Towel, change of clothes and a hot drink If you’re unsure about your clothing or equipment, feel free to contact us before booking — we’re happy to help!
